Moe Mustafa
Moe Mustafa was born in Kuwait to Palestinian parents, brought up in Jordan, and has been based in Finland since 2010. He is very proud of his mixed cultural background and heritage.
Moe graduated as a graphic designer in 2006 and received his second degree in Art and culture from Tamk in 2018. During his studies, Moe focused on film studies and directing. Afterward, he did his exchange studies at FAMU (Film university) in Prague.
In 2017, Moe directed his first play, When a Rainbow is Black, in collaboration with Teatteri Telakka. The theme of the performance was sexual assualt and rape as it pertains to gay men. Afterward, Moe did his 2nd performance in 2018, Not for Men, where he explored the technique of live performance and video installation. The performance was divided into monologues; four of these monologues were videos interacting with the actress on stage.
Currently, Moe is working on a new adaptation of Sarah Kane – Psychosis 4,48, which will be premiered in Koko Teatteri on May 4, 2021, and in Rakastajat Teatteri Spring 2022.
In addition to directing, Moe has worked as a sound and video designer for many performances such as; Pakolaiset (Tampereen Teatteri), Pesärikko, Miehen Kylkiluu and Kultainen Vasikka (a co-production of many theatres), Vähemmän Ihminen (Teatteri Siperia).
Alongside the theatre field, Moe extends his talent into music and painting. Since he has been researching the Bauhaus art movement for the past ten years, one can see its influence and constructivism in his painting style.
